SDMA members manufacture, distribute and supply the majority of wound care and associated products in the UK health care market. It therefore largely represents this sector of the health care industry in the UK
It is a condition of membership that all members of the SDMA formally adopt the Code of Practice. The SDMA Code of Practice covers the promotion and sale of wound care and associated products to healthcare professionals (e.g. surgeons, doctors, hospital nurses, community nurses, pharmacists, dentists, podiatrists, procurement buyers, and so on) within the British Isles. The latest revision of the code (Revision 6) was published in April 2017.
